Trilogy Comes About...

Currently I am on my second book of my Third Crusade trilogy following primarily Richard I of England, Sultan Saladin of Syria King Guy of Jerusalem, and Sir Peter de Preaux in the story over the battle of the Holy City, Jerusalem. I have recently decided to do my books in a trilogy on this subject.

                         Warriors of Christendom:

                         Kings and Crusaders
                         The Storming Rage
                         The Final Journey

I hope that my readers will enjoy my books and keep up with the blog about my writings.

  1. Joshua,

I've read through your blog posts and your writing excerpts. Your writings rock! Your grasp of history is simply amazing. In reference to your completed book, 1,400 pages of writing is mind blowing to me. By the time I was your age I had probably written less than 14! Your writing style is crisp and captivating—I especially like your "Omaha Beach". Graphic. Cool.

You display an unusual gift of writing. It is an obvious gifting of God—a highly effective means of transferring historical perspective. I encourage you to continue to pursue this path with a view to honoring Christ. Continue to think imaginatively and creatively, and don't let others place you in a stereotypical box. The Lord is using you mightily in His unfolding plan.

  2. Thank you Mr. Walton. Your letter means very much to me. I hope my writings will always glorify Christ, as I mean for them to do. As to writing so much, I can sincerely say, that having a cause behind my writings, has to do with me writing much of that I do. My stories I don't mean to just be about a war, but rather the men who saw it with their own eyes and the closed in agony of all that they faced, the cruelness, the horror, the brutality, that would at times, drive men insane.
    Thanks for the support.

  5. Hello Joshua,

I am so glad to hear that things are rolling along. And the thought of so much hand-written material having already been assembled...VERY cool! Hand-written anything these days is a rare thing.

Is there a point at which you will be copying/converting things into a digital format (like Microsoft's Word) to prep for publication, or has that process has already begun?

I know that, for me, getting a look at a digital representation of a book (which can be formatted to be *exactly* as it will appear in physical print) was a very big help in the crafting process. Even if you don't plan to publish anything for public release anytime soon, you may find digital conversion and "galley copy" prints to be very useful. I use CreateSpace (Amazon.com's PoD company) for this, and I have been happy with the results. One of the best parts of that process through CreateSpace is that, so long as you can submit completed digital documents (.pdf files, which can be crafted via Word), you need not pay a dime or fee towards the book design process; you only pay for the physical print, which, for most of my books, costs be in the $3-$5 per copy range, with no minimum number required. Getting a galley or draft copy in print to hold in hand can be a great help.

Just thought I'd share those thoughts...keep up the excellent work! I am looking forward to reading more.

    In His grip,

    Scott
